European/ German Civilian Saddle & Harnessing from the late 19th to Early 20th Century
I believe this is civilian horse rigging and is only displayed here to present a contrast to the German military saddles and harnessing. Horse and Oxen teams were sometimes commandeered from civilians for movement of the artillery but this was a rare occasion. Please do not take the placement of this display in the "artillery related" section to imply these were used in military service.
Both the civilian draft saddle and horse collar were acquired in Germany but similar rigs may have been in civilian draft horse service throughout North-Central Europe in the WW1 & WW2 Eras.
